Multiple sessions

A session is a live connection. The rail on the left shows one avatar per session; clicking an avatar selects it as the active session for the inspector and any new tabs.

You can have multiple sessions against the same saved connection. Open another from:

  • The rail’s context menu → Open another session.
  • The Connection Manager → click Connect again on a connection that’s already live.

Sibling sessions get labeled #2, #3, … in the rail so they’re distinguishable.

Every tab’s connId points at a session, not a saved connection. When you close a session (rail context menu → Close session), every tab that belonged to it closes too.

Sessions persist to localStorage. On launch we rehydrate them and kick off background reconnects — you’ll see avatars flip from grey → connecting → green over a few hundred milliseconds.

Schemas and statuses are NOT persisted; they’re rebuilt by the reconnect. Persisting “connected” would be a lie if the connection actually failed to come back.

The bottom-left status pill summarizes the active session at a glance:

PROD-REPLICA | PostgreSQL | require | shop | shop_orders | 12,453 of 1.2M (est.) · 234 ms
  • Connection name → engine → SSL mode → database → active tab title → row count → query timing.
  • “(est.)” appears while the planner’s row estimate is showing. Replaced by the exact count when COUNT(*) finishes.
